Privacy policy
Venus vs Mars is a party game you play on one phone or tablet. You don't create an account and we never ask for your name, e-mail or phone number. This page explains the little data the game uses and what you can do about it.
What stays on your device
- Your games: player and game names you type, scores, game history, a game in progress and your settings are saved on your device only.
- Cloud save: if you are signed in to Game Center (iPhone, iPad) or Google Play Games (Android), the game can keep your history and a game in progress in your Apple or Google account, so they come back on a new device. That data is stored by Apple or Google under their privacy policies; we can't see it.
Usage statistics: you choose
On first launch the game asks “Help us improve?”. You can change your answer any time in Settings (“Share usage stats”).
- If you allow it, the game sends usage events to Google Firebase Analytics: which decks, languages and settings a game used, how many turns it had and who won (Venus or Mars), plus app version, device model and a random app-instance id that Firebase creates. We use it to see which decks and settings people like and to make the game better. Player names, game names and words are never sent. There are no ads, we don't use the advertising id (IDFA) and we don't track you across other apps or websites. With the same consent the game sends crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics (where in the code it crashed, app and system version, device model and the same app-instance id) so we can fix bugs. See Firebase privacy.
- If you say no, nothing goes to Firebase, crash reports included. The game only sends anonymous game counters (the same kind of events, with no id of any kind) to our server, which stores them with the date only. Your IP address is used to deliver the request but is not stored.
Decks
The basic deck is built into the app. Extra decks and word fixes are downloaded from our server on Cloudflare. These requests carry no personal data; we keep no request logs.
Purchases
Extra decks are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment; we never see your payment details or your name. Restoring purchases also goes through them.
Who processes data
- Google (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics), only if you allow statistics.
- Cloudflare (our deck and counters server).
- Apple and Google (app stores, purchases, Game Center, Google Play Games).
How long we keep it
Firebase keeps statistics for at most 14 months and crash reports for 90 days. Anonymous counters can't be linked to you, so they are kept as plain totals.
Your rights
You can turn statistics off at any time in Settings; nothing more is sent from then on. Deleting the app deletes everything saved on your device. Under the GDPR you may ask us to access or delete data at contact@venus-vs-mars.app, and you may complain to your data protection authority (in Poland: UODO). Note that we cannot match anonymous counters to a person.
Children
The game is meant for teens and adults. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13, and without consent the game collects nothing that identifies anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date above.
